APA-Accredited Psychology Internship Program

The WFUCC Internship Program will not be offering any intern positions for the 2022-2023 training year

Thank you for your interest in the Wake Forest University Counseling Center (WFUCC) APA-Accredited Psychology Internship Program!  The WFUCC Psychology Internship offers two one-year, full-time internship positions beginning and ending in July each year.   Interns complete 2000 hours of training during the year, with at least 500 of those hours being in direct, face-to-face service to clients.  Interns can expect to be engaged in all activities associated with working in a university counseling center, including:

  • individual and group counseling,
  • initial assessment and referral services,
  • triage,
  • after-hours crisis intervention,
  • case management,
  • consultation,
  • psychological assessment,
  • outreach services, and
  • supervision of masters-level mental health trainees.

Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to choose a year-long area of specialization to develop knowledge and skills that are designed to prepare them to take on a coordinator role in a university counseling center or similar setting upon graduation.  Detailed information about our program can be found on the webpages listed on the left-hand side of this page, in our internship brochure, and in our comprehensive internship training manual.
