Bio
Clinical Interests
My clinical work is centered on helping clients navigate a variety of concerns with a holistic approach. My areas of interest include the gamut of developmental concerns that impact college students and their wellbeing. I have experience providing substance abuse treatment and prevention programs, eating and body image concerns, and family relationship dynamics. I also integrate principles of wellness, mindfulness, and holistic health into my practice. The concerns I most frequently work with are anxiety, depression, and identity development. My passion extends to training the next generation of therapists through counselor education and clinical supervision.
Counseling Style
My counseling style integrates a blend of interpersonal, cognitive behavioral therapy, and emotion-focused approaches in order to help students explore the connection between their thoughts and emotional experiences. Therapy at this life stage can often center on building self-knowledge and understanding precursors to distress in order to proactively care for oneself. My treatment plan may include motivational interviewing for substance misuse or disordered eating clinical concerns.
Personal
I grew up in South Carolina and love the warmth of the south. When I’m not doing my life’s passion of helping students deal with personal concerns and reach their goals; I can be found dancing it out in a Zumba class, breathing it out in Bikram yoga, or at a spa. I love trying to recreate the comfort foods my southern grandmothers made and visiting friends spread across the country.
