Bio

Clinical Interests
I enjoy the opportunities to work with clients as they navigate adjusting to the university setting and to gain a deeper understanding and awareness of the goals, values, and their sense of identity as they navigate this next stage of life. Throughout my graduate training, I have had the opportunity to work with clients in various settings and circumstances, including rural and underserved communities and specialized training with collegiate student athletes. Along with my generalist training and practice, I greatly enjoy the opportunity to work with student athletes to serve as a resource to navigate elements of athletic identity, as well as topics related to both performance and mental health. My “why” is to truly allow university students with the space and the environment to form a relationship with themselves to get the most out of this unique moment in life. I greatly enjoy working on presenting concerns involving anxiety, depression, and utilizing clinical assessment to gain a deeper level of insight and self-understanding.

Counseling Style
My therapeutic framework is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a focus on third-wave CBT interventions. Thus, I often incorporate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness in my work with clients. I believe that the client is the expert on their own life experiences and I enjoy fostering a collaborative space for the client to engage in self-reflection in order to develop therapeutic goals that are in alignment with their values and navigating some of life’s larger questions.

Personal
I am originally from Charleston, WV, which has shaped my love of nature and the outdoors. Hiking and long distance running are two of my favorite ways to explore new places and re-charge at the end of the day. I also enjoy exploring new places through trying new restaurants and coffee shops, so I welcome any and all local recommendations! I also particularly enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. Sports have also always been a big part of my life, which I can talk about for way too long once I get started!
