Bio

Clinical Interests
Anxiety, depression, perfectionism, marginalized populations, race and culture related stress, identity exploration/development, graduate student experience, collegiate addiction recovery and substance use, interpersonal relationship concerns, life transitions, trauma-informed counseling, values based living, self compassion, distress tolerance, present moment awareness, acceptance, emotion regulation, and clinical supervision.

Counseling Style
I operate primarily from an acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) lens. I also draw from person-centered, interpersonal, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and feminist counseling to support students. Collaboration and empathetic listening are foundational to my work as a counselor. I help students to access self compassion, values based exploration, and cognitive as well as emotional flexibility in the counseling room.

Personal
I enjoy reading sci-fi and afro-futuristic books. When I am not in Winston, I am most likely visiting family and friends. As someone who enjoys being in the comfort of her own home, I am often watching television and movies. I also enjoy traveling, exploring new areas, hiking, listening to music, watching theater and concerts, learning to crochet, being creative with paint, and eating desserts.
